The 24th Annual Conference of SIETAR Japan

“Intercultural Communication: Past, Present, and Future”
(September 26 & 27, 2009 at Reitaku University, Kashiwa, Chiba)

Conference Announcement

Dear Sietarians:

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our 24th annual conference. The theme is“Intercultural Communication: Past, Present & Future.” We hope that this conference will provide you with many opportunities to meet and interact with a diverse range of people. SIETAR Japan is dedicated to promoting and facilitating intercultural education, training, and research through professional interchange, and this conference is our largest annual opportunity for members to meet for this purpose.

This year, on 25th, Friday, the day before the conference dates, we have a preconference seminar, “Fieldwork: Tour in Okubo.” On the first day, Saturday 26th, an open panel discussion, and a keynote speech by Professor Osamu Nakayama, President of Reitaku University, are offered. On the second day, a symposium sponsored by the Conference Committee will be held.

Other offerings include: workshops by our SIGs, 29 presentations in English or Japanese, and 7 workshops.

The welcome party is scheduled to provide an opportunity for you to connect with old friends and make new acquaintances. We hope you find this event to be a time of learning, professional networking, and personal renewal. I am very grateful to the Conference Co-Director, Kyoko Yashiro and the Reitaku Conference Committee members, Adam Komisarof, Kaori Takamoto, and Suzuka Masamune, as well as many SIETAR Japan colleagues for all their preparations and hard work to ensure a stimulating and enjoyable experience for us all

Eriko Machi
