SIETAR Japan Year 2010 25th Conference

October 30 and 31 (Saturday and Sunday), 2010

The 25th Annual Conference of SIETAR Japan
Call for Proposals

“Intercultural Communication and Humor”
(October 30 & 31, 2010 at Bunkyo Gakuin University, Tokyo)

Conference Announcement

Dear Sietarians:

SIETAR Japan will hold its 25th Annual Conference on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st, 2010 at Bunkyo Gakuin University in Tokyo. In Humor Studies, humor is defined as something that “arises from disjoined, ill-suited pairings of ideas or situations that are divergent from habitual customs or social commonsense.” As interculturalists, we would like to examine how utilizing the creativity and flexibility of humor provides the opportunity to express different views and hence open our minds to new ideas. We look forward to having presentations that reflect this spirit of humor. Also, proposals which discuss or focus on a unique practice, approach and theory from either the past, present, and/or those that explore future directions in the field, are welcome.

Please follow the guidelines given below and be sure to submit your proposal by the deadline. We look forward to hearing from you.
