PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This program will introduce how the balance between shame
and pride is related to an individual's identity negotiation. Using
the "Who am I?" method, participants will be encouraged to
identify their multiple identities and to recognize the importance of
the balance between shame and pride within their identity/identities.
Participants will also be encouraged to draw a map of their identities
and to think about how different kinds of identities (personal, social,
superordinate) are rigidly or fluidly structured.
PRESENTER:
Kiyoko Sueda, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Aoyama
Gakuin University and teaches interpersonal and intercultural communication.
She has been active in SIETAR Japan for many years and served as Vice
President from 1999-2001.
How to get there?:
i-Land Tower can be accessed directly from Nishi-Shinjuku
Station on the Marunouchi Line by following the underground path. From
JR Shinjuku Station it is approximately a 10-minute walk. Once you get
to the building, select an elevator that stops on the 4th floor. After
you get off on the 4th floor, walk to the right until you get to the
last door on your left.
