PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This presentation focus on:

  • Mangement training in Asia: history and experience
  • The current status of the relationship between Japanese expatirate managers and local staff
  • "Dialogue-oriented leadership" desired as the good boss in Asia
  • Directions of interucltural education in Asia and intercultural trainer competencies

PRESENTER:
Takashi Kawatani ,President of Diversity Management Institute Inc. (Tokyo) and Diversity Strategies Sdn Bhd, Intercultural Management Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur), has been conducting training, executive coaching, consulting in areas including management, leadership, motivation in Asia, crosscultural management, etc. He has been a management seminar speaker for Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industries (Singapore), and PHP International (S). His most recent publication is Crosscultural Management Guide: Management Together in Asia (PHP, 2003).

Takashi Kawatani's presentation in English on “12 Years of Management Training in Japanese Subsidiaries in Asia: A Personal Account” will be held in English on July 1, Thursday, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Rikkyo University ( Nishi Ikebukuro 3-34-1, Toshima-ku, Tokyo ? 171-8501 ) in Building 10, Room 203 (about a 15-minute walk from the West side of Ikebukuro Station). Ikebukuro can be reached using any of the following train or subway lines: JR Yamate Line, Saikyo Line, Takasaki Line, Tohoku Hon Line, Tobu Tojo Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Marunouchi Subway Line, Yurakucho Subway Line, or New Subway Line. Walk to Exit C3 of the underground passageway that goes along the subway New Line on the West Side of Ikebukuro Station. To find Building 10, go to your right down Rikkyo Street past the main gate on your left and enter from at the second gate also on the left. The guard station is on the immediate right in the front of Building 12. Enter Building 12, and walk to your left down the main hall out through the sliding doors that connect to Building 10. Go in through the door to your left and up the stairs to the second floor. Room 203 is the third room on your left.
