Description of the Presentation:
A binary comparison of Japanese communicative styles vs. those of
Anglo-American has been one of the popular teaching methods for intercultural
communication at the university in Japan. However, a comparison of the
communicative styles of plural ethnic groups has been introduced lately.
I would like to make two suggestions for an effective method for teaching
intercultural communication.
- A tripartite comparison.
- Introducing Intercultural Communication in conflict through video.

Bunri University in 1992. Research interests: A comparative analysis of
communicative styles of ethnic minorities in the US; a sociology of anthropological
knowledge; intercultural communication; ethnic humor; laughter, festivals
in Japan, etc.
