Description of the Presentation:
Toshiko Yoshida will state the reasons why she proposes the need for teaching interpersonal communication skills in medical and dental education, and will present how North American as well as Japanese dental schools teach interpersonal communication skills. She also presents what Objective Structured Clinical Examination is like, which will be introduced to Japanese medical as well as dental students from 2005.

Profile of the Presenter:
Toshiko Yoshida is a research associate at Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine and Dentistry where she provides dental students with communication skills. She received her M.A. in intercultural relations from Lesley College Graduate School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her Ph.D. in dentistry from Okayama University Graduate School. She was a visiting scholar at University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, Washington from December 2000 to June 2002.
