Description of the Program:
Everybody knows that Beethoven was born in Bonn of Germany. After he left Bonn for Vienna in 1782 ( 22 years old), he, however, never paid a single visit to his home town during his whole life of 57 years in the Vienna region. In spite of his hard and troublesome life in the strange town, he broke it through and succeeded in composing such a number of immortal music. Is there any reason why Vienna-milieu attracted Beethoven? I will explore conceivable factors by tracing his surroundings.

Profile of the Presenter:
Professor at Kansai-Gaidai University (since 1999) and Lecturer at Osaka University of Foreign Studies (since 2000)
After graduation from German-philology(Germanistik) Faculty of Osaka University of Foreign Studies, he worked for 35 years at ITOCHUU Corporation, general manager of Industrial Machinery Dept. etc. and 2 years as Director of Administration Div. at one of its sister company. He stayed in the meantime in Europe (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) for 20 years in total, meanwhile as President of ITOCHU Switzerland AG and Austria GmbH.
