Description of the Program:
While the views of intercultural relations are somewhat different in Asia, the US, and Europe, there are some commonalities that are now becoming clearer as the field grows stronger outside the US. This presentation will explore aspects of the different views of intercultural relations, particularly the differences among communication, linguistic, and management perspectives in the field, and it will explore how the ideas of

Profile of the Presenter:
Dr. Milton Bennett is a graduate of the original Intercultural Communication Ph.D. Program at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He also holds a Master·s Degree from San Francisco State University, where he studied constructivist communication theory with Dr. Dean Barnlund. In addition to consulting with corporations on three continents, Dr. Bennett has published (with Ed Stewart) American Cultural Patterns and is the editor of Basic Concepts of Intercultural Communication and a co-editor of Handbook of Intercultural Training, 3rd Edition. Dr. Bennett has taught courses in Japan for many years, and he is currently on the faculties of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California and the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy, where he now lives half-time.
