SIETAR Japan will hold the 34th (2019) Annual Conference of SIETAR Japan.

◆Theme: “Promoting Gender Equity through Education, Training, and Research: Examining Masculinity and Male Privilege.”

Date: November 9 (Saturday) and November10 (Sunday), 2019
Venue: Sophia University Yotsuya Campus, Tokyo.

 ◆Registration

Please pay the conference fee by October 15th (Tue.). (If you have missed the early registration, please pay the on-site registration fee at the Conference Reception desk).
・If you are not a member, please download the Registration Form and send the completed form to SIETAR JAPAN Office (E mail: members@sietar-japan.org) via email by September 30th (Mon.). There is no charge for undergraduate students.
Overseas participants: Send an email titled as “Early registration” to E mail: sietar-conf@bunken.co.jp before October 15th, then you can pay an early bird fee at the conference site. Please pay registration fees on-site.
・Non-Member participants: Please fill out a postal transfer form and send your fee at the post office, and send your fee to us.

【IMPORTANT】
Dear Presenters: Please note that all presenters are required to register on or before Oct. 15th. If you do not complete your Early Bird Registration on or before Oct. 15th, your name/presentation will be removed from the Conference Program.

Conference Fee
Member: 5000 yen (on-site payment 7,000 yen)
Non-Member: 7000 yen (on-site payment 9,000 yen)
Graduate Student: 2000 yen (on-site payment 3,000 yen)
Undergraduate students: Free
Welcome Party: 5000 yen (on-site payment 6,000 yen)
※The Welcome Party includes dinner buffet on campus at 6pm Saturday, Nov. 9th.

◆Pre-Conference Fieldwork

Kawasaki-City’s “Fureaikan”

Date and Time: Friday, November 8th from 12:45pm to 4:00 pm(dinner to follow)
Meeting Place: Kawasaki Station on JR
Location: Fureaikan, Sakuramoto 1-5-6, Kawasaki ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa
Language: Japanese, but with translation to English
Planned by: Living within Diversity (Lidi) SIG (Special Interest Group)
Participation fee: 1000-yen (paid on the day of the field trip)
Participants: Anyone interested in social justice, diversity, and minorities in Japan
Number of participants: 25 people (the first 25 applicants—first come first basis)
Deadline for application: Friday, October 25, 2019

How to apply:
Please e-mail your name, affiliation and contact information by Friday, November 1.
Please title your e-mail “Pre-Conference Kawasaki-City’s “Fureaikan” ” and send it to Manami Tanaka at (E mail:tanaka-manami@tokyomirai.jp).

Schedule for November 8th (Fri.)
12:45pm                   Meet at Kawasaki Station on JR (north central exit)Kawasaki Station is about 20 minutes from Tokyo Station.
1:45pm                     Visit the “Fureaikan”
3pm- 4pm                Walk around the streets of the South of Kawasaki where there are many resident foreigners and ethnic minority communities
5pm-                         Dinner/social gathering at a local restaurant (to be determined)

Please let us know if you would like to have a wireless receiver for simultaneous translation into English. We will reply to inform you whether your application was accepted or not (only the first 25 applications will be accepted).
