大会テーマである「ダイバーシティと社会的公正」を受け、札幌市にある朝鮮初中高級学校（学生数：１２５人）を舞台にしたドキュメンタリー映画「ウリハッキョ」（我が学校）を上映いたします。日本で民族の心とアイデンティティを守ろうとする子どもたちと教職員の日常が描かれており、韓国、日本、米国、カナダ、オーストラリアなどでも上映されており、２００６年釜山国際映画祭ウンパ賞（最優秀韓国ドキュメンタリー賞）受賞。金明俊監督が３年間、同校の寄宿舎に住み込み撮影したものです。「民族」を守るために朝鮮語を学び、チマ・チョゴリを着る女生徒や親元を離れて寄宿舎で暮らす幼い子どもたちがクローズアップされています。さらに、ひんぱんに起きる学校への嫌がらせについても映しています。日本におけるマイノリティである在日コリアンの想いを広く知ってもらうきっかけになればと思います。

“Our School (Uri hakkyo)” is a moving documentary film about the lives of ethnic Korean students and teachers in a pro-North Korean high school (125 students) in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Director Kim Myeong-joon lived in the school dormitory for three years to film the daily lives of the students and teachers who work hard to nurture their pride and ethnic identity in Japan. The film has been shown widely in Korea, Japan, U.S., Canada, and Australia, and Kim won the 2006 Busan International Film Festival for best documentary filmmaker. The children in the film learn the Korean language and the female students wear the ethnic ch’ima chogori. Some children live in the dorms apart from their parents because they live too far to commute. The film also documents the various harassment the school receives from the surrounding Japanese community. We hope that this film will broaden our understanding of incredible resilience and commitment these Zainichi Koreans exhibit in the face of adversity in Japanese society.
